How Do I Know If Therapy is For Me?

Use these simple questions to find out if therapy might be a helpful pathway for you.

How Are You Doing? Like honestly.

If you are considering therapy, you may have already asked yourself this question, but give it a try now...How am I really doing?

Consider: How is my mood these days?

Am I feeling like "myself" recently?

Are my relationships the same as usual?

Has my functioning at work or at home changed?

Am I feeling overwhelmed with everything on my plate?

Answering these questions might help you to get a better sense of your current day-to-day functioning. If life seems extra difficult at the moment, your mood is low or unpredictable, you don't feel like your usual self, and there have been changes in your relationships, work, or home functioning, therapy may be helpful for you.

How Can Therapy Help Me?

Therapy can help you to get a better understanding of your needs and how to meet them more fully. As therapy guides you to become more mindful of what is going on for you, you'll gain more self-insight and learn to befriend parts of yourself that you may have struggled with before. Acceptance and self-compassion are woven into therapy so you can treat yourself with less self-criticism and more gentleness.

Therapy will also provide you with coping tools to manage your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour when things feel out of control. Learning mindfulness techniques helps you to feel more equipped to deal with enormous emotions and challenging situations when they arise.

If you've been feeling not like yourself recently, or disconnected from yourself, therapy can be helpful to provide a safe pathway back to yourself and a guide through the forest of life.
